Texas Timber Bat Co., est. 1998
In November of 1998, the Texas Timber Bat Co. was founded with the sole mission of producing high
quality bats, personalized to your specifications. Today, located in both Dallas, TX and
Seymour, TX, we are the proud makers of the Texas Timber baseball bat.
What makes our company unique is our commitment to produce high quality bats, made to order for
both professional and college baseball players. We also manufacture trophy bats for corporate
gifts, father's day presents, wedding gifts, and promotional use.
Where we come from
Our commitment to quality begins in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York where foresters
individually select each split of ash. The Catskills have proven to be the best source of
'hard' ash for over a century. Along with the hardness, we emphasize selecting ash blanks with
the 'straightest' and 'largest' grains. After being field approved, it is sent to a mill where
it is turned into a billet, dried to the exact moisture content, and then sent to our factory
in Seymour, TX. Once there it is warehoused in a moisture and climate controlled facility
until your individual order is placed.
Where we've been
Our parent company, Wayland Enterprises, was founded in early 1997 by Joe Hardin and his
father, Wayland Hardin. With a family history of woodworking and sports, father and son
combined the two for the production of their first product line, the baseball lamp. As the
two began making the lamps for friends and local craft dealers, they received a surprising
response. Now their product line has increased to include baseball stools, picture frames, and
custom wood shadow boxes to encase baseball memorabilia. It has also expanded to include
handcrafted baseball bats, which are now known as Texas Timber Bats.
Where we're going
In July 1999, Joe and Wayland Hardin traveled to southern California to look at some new
lathes. While many companies grow and begin to forget their roots, Texas Timbers will always
be a family owned and operated business, ensuring a quality baseball bat for years to
come. Our unique baseball bats are 100% hand made. From hand turning the wood, hand stamping
the length into the knob, tempering the wood, hand burning the logo and each customers name into
the barrel (the process used in the movie "The Natural"), and applying two coats of polyurethane. This process is unique to any other bat
company that we know of. The Texas Timber is a finished product we are proud to call our own
and we intend to keep this simple, yet genuine process alive for America and for baseball.
Our promise to you
The Texas Timber Bat Company has a rich history of quality craftsmanship. While Wayland
Hardin was growing up on his family's farm, his father and mother instilled values, beliefs,
and integrity that can be seen today in his woodworking. This pride has been passed down to
Wayland's son and on to the Texas Timber Bat Company. Each of our products are individually
hand crafted and handled with special care. We believe that anything worth doing, is worth
doing our very best. That's our promise to you.
Our Name
Significant marketing research was performed to find the name "Texas Timber". Many names
were submitted during the process and then voted on by baseball players around the country.
Using the internet, we polled high school, college, and professional baseball players, and baseball
historians as our target market. After many names were received and considered, we then repolled
the same group to vote on the top three names that we choose. Surprisingly to us, the name
Texas Timber was more popular to out of state respondents than Texas residents. Our brand has
been very popular and we are very proud of it.
The below logo was the original artwork designed for the Texas Timber Bat Company in 1998. You

Doing the right things
Here at Texas Timber Bats, we want to do the right things for you. We make the bats
individually, hand crafted to your specifications. With today's technology, we could easily
mass produce wood baseball bats by the hundreds each day, but thats not how we want to do
business. No company can buy what we have, and that starts with how we treat you and the way
we do business. Texas Timber Bats will go the extra mile for you, because we are doing the
right things.
